Off Duty Ballerina

So I'm describing this look as 'Off Duty Ballerina'. Clearly getting the inspiration for this name from my hair! A lot of the time when I put my hair in a bun its really messy and purely for practical purposes, resembling something like a pineapple on top of my head. But every now and then its nice to be a lady, and attempt a sleeker look to the norm. Doughnut rings have been really popular for a while now and you can see why, they are so easy to use and give such a sophisticated look to your hair!

I bought this shirt earlier this week from H&M, you may have read my shirt post a couple of days ago where I basically rant about my new found love of shirts. The shirt featured in that post was also from H&M, and its safe to say that I am really liking their selection of shirts and blouses at the minute. Zara is another excellent go-to place for blouses, but H&M are more budget friendly and since I don't have a job at the minute I'm having to watch the pennies/

Jeans - Zara
Shoes - New Look
Necklace - Primark
Earings - Unknown
I've also switched necklace preference recently. I have always been a fan of the long necklace, a chain with a pendent, or layered long chains, even the occasional lengthy beaded necklace. But recently my collection of short statement necklaces has been growing rapidly. This is one of my favourites, it was from Primark a few months ago and I don't think they do it any more, but New Look sell a really similar one if you're considering getting something like this for yourself.

What's your opinion on necklaces guys? Do you prefer them long or sort? I'd really like to know as I think the general trend is leaning towards short at the minute, but I'd like to think there are still those who favour a good lengthy pendant! Let me know in the comments below and if you leave a link to your own blog if you've got one I'll be sure to come by and check you out.

Digging Out The Old

So for this outfit I dug out this gorgeous black kimono type top which I haven't worn in ages. I loved it so much when I first bought it, but then somehow forgot what I used to wear it with and found it hard to style. I genuinely don't know what happened there, bloggers block or something because when I ferreted it out the other day I found it went with the majority of things I own!

I love this blowler hat so much, but with the weather having been so nice recently I haven't really wanted to wear it that much because its just too hot to be in a black felt hat right now! I'm sure I'll bring it out again though once Autumn descends!

How artsy is the above photo!? Haha, I feel slightly over the top pulling poses like that, but its always good to mix it up right?

This is the second time in two days that there has been mess on my bed in the background of a photo. Note to self: learn to tidy up, or at least crop out mess!! Please let me know what you guys think of my outfit in the comment section below! I'd also like to know if you've ever had similar experiences with clothes, when you literally just forget how to wear an item!

Into Shirts

Recently I have been a little obsessed with shirts. I'm not exactly sure where this obsession has come from because I never used to be a big fan, being much more of a tshirt kinda girl, but recently I seemed to be taking a more sophisticated approach to the way I dress. Now when I say shirts I feel I must elaborate. As nice as I think buttoned up, perfectly ironed, tucked in shirts look on those who can pull of the preppy look, that kind of thing isn't really me. I would love to be a neat person, but I'm not and my style reflects that. If I'm wearing a shirt with a collar it will always be unbuttoned to create a v, or left open over a vest. I guess I veer towards the blouse scale of the shirt spectrum, preferring my shirts to be loose fitted and relaxed.
 Shirt - H&M
Skirt - Ark
Shoes - New Look
Necklace - New Look
Earings - Matalan?
Aztec Ring - Monsoon

This shirt is from H&M, I got it early this year and I did actually feature it in my post on my trip to Ireland here, back in March. I am in love with everything about this shirt. It was primarily the colour which drew me to it, but the fabric is lovely too, its like a faux silk but it doesn't cause static which is brilliant because I hate when silk shirts stick to your wobbly bits!! I also like how the collar lies flat, as I said I'm not a fan of the buttoned up look on me, my neck isn't long enough to carry that off and my boobs just look ridiculous in high necked tops.

This skirt is also one of my favourite pieces at the minute, I got it about six months ago from Ark but my friend actually has the exact same one and she bought it from Motel - so shop around! I find this skirt really versatile for day and night wear, and since I wear a lot of black at night its good to brighten up your outfit with a little bit of blue!

Now I have no idea where half of this jewellery if from! The necklace is from New Look and is one of the last things I bought with my staff discount, and I have worn it such a lot this summer. The ring on the middle finger of my left hand (if you were me) is from Monsoon, and I'm pretty sure the earings are from Matalan. The earings are actually my Mum's that she lent me for my cousins wedding, they were originally a very short dropper but she took the ball off the original earing and swapped it for a longer stem - creative Mummy!

Hmmm apologies for the mess on my bed in that last photo!

Stripes and Peplum

I wore this outfit months ago back when I wasn't blogging, and I really wanted to share it so I recreated it a couple of days ago to share with you all, except I substituted my leather jacket for this cropped Jersey number because of all the hot weather we've been experiencing these past few days!

Don't know why I decided to put my hair in a ponytail for this because I literally never do. If I'm going to have my hair up I normally put it in a bun or a plait. But in all honesty, I quite like the high pony look - very sporty spice! Haha

 Striped Tee - Topshop
Cropped Jersey Jacket - New Look (Old)
Peplum Skirt - Misguided
Necklace - Miss Selfridge
Earings - Primark
Shoes - New Look

I bought this Barry M gel nail varnish on Wednesday and have fallen in love with it! Its such a perfect statement colour, to go with any outfit. But now I really want a clutch or a bracelet the same colour for a bit more of a statement, so I can wear it with a plain black dress on a night out.

Hope you liked this outfit! You may also notice the background has changed, this is because (if you didn't read in my last post) I've now moved house, and this is a sneak peak at my new room. At some point I will do some kind of room/house tour for you all to see. Let me know if that's something you would be interested in by commenting below. Thanks for reading, I know its been a long time but I will be far more regular from now on!

Its Been A Long Break

So it has been an extremely long time since my last post and for this I am very sorry! I originally made the decision to take a break from my blog because my exams were coming up and it was hard enough for me to motivate myself to revise without the strong pull of the blogging world whispering in my ear telling me to post, read, watch and comment daily! But I finished my exams by the end of May and its now July, and the break has been a lot longer than originally intended. But I don't want you to think I've been sat around twiddling my thumbs and ignoring the blogging world for the last two months, so here's a quick update on my life while I have been missing from the virtual world:

1/ In June I went to the south of France for a week with the boy and we attended my cousins wedding there. I can honestly say it was one of the best weeks of my year so far, if a little stressful in places, really it deserves a post of its own because we have so many funny stories of things that went wrong while we were there....it was like being in a 'Carry On' film half of the time! My cousins wedding was amazing and the setting was so beautiful, I'm really happy for the newly weds; but it felt oh so very grown up of me to take a date to a wedding, even if we have been together a year and a half now.

2/ Immediately after getting back from France I had to pack up all my worldly possessions and move house. I absolutely adore my new house and I love when you first move in and you get to put all your things away and find an appropriate home for all your belongings.

3/ But no sooner had I moved in than I was off again, this time to Glastonbury. And words cannot explain how much of a good time I had there, I haven't laughed so much in such a short space of time, well, ever I don't think.

And that brings us to the present day. I got back from Glastonbury on Monday and have just been getting used to my new house all over again since I never really had time to after France, I have been meaning to blog all week but I currently have no internet in my house and can only get on via my ipad which doesn't have any of the photos I need. So I'm currently sat in Cafe Nero enjoying a Raspberry, Orange and Mango Iced Tea and a Mushroom Panini just so I can abuse there free wifi and get some posts scheduled for the next few days!

I had intended to do a OOTD post today, but it seems explaining my antics over the past few months has taken longer than expected. So instead of boring you with more of my chatter, I'll add in some photos of my travels and leave the fashiony stuff until tomorrow.
